Balance
When securing information systems, it is always a matter of finding the balance between security and ease of use. This also applies to Onetrail. Taco: “There is on the one hand, for example, the preference for Single Sign-On, which is nice for the user. He or she only needs to log in once. But then you have to be well-organized at the backend, to avoid risks. We are currently looking for the best balance, where safety comes first.”

SFTP
One of the practical security issues, affecting some customers this year, is ending the FTP capability. “Our alternative is SFTP,” says Taco. “Traditional FTP is not encrypted, so data can be intercepted. SFTP or Secure File Transfer Protocol is encrypted. It uses Secure Shell, a cryptographic protocol, which allows for a secure connection to a server.

Furthermore, we look at the possibilities to slightly widen our maintenance windows in order to further streamline the update and patch process. This way, we continue to work every day on keeping our infrastructure stable and safe so that customers are assured of optimal service. As our client Tech Data rightly noted, security is the new normal.”

All changes and/or adjustments in the field of security will be announced via Maintenance Notifications.
